Zamora and Cisse to fire QPR up the table says Dowie

By Guest

Wednesday 01 February 2012

Iain Dowie has given his verdict on the January transfer deadline day signings, and feels that with the acquisitation of Djibril Cisse from Lazio, and Bobby Zamora from neighbours Fulham, Queens Park Rangers will provide a much sterner test for opposition defences in the second half of the season.

"We all have a great deal of sympathy for Neil Warnock, but Mark Hughes has gone in and identified very good targets. Zamora and Nedum Onuoha have proven pace, power and know how to deal with the Premier League. Cisse adds that element of unpredictability, and he has also brought in Samba Diakhite and Taye Taiwo.

"Zamora is the stand-out signing. He took Fulham almost single-handedly to the Europa League final. He's 31, but he did not play a lot in the early part of his career and is reaping the benefits of that.

"Those signings will make QPR a real force in the second half of the season. Goals have been a problem for them this season, but Zamora, Cisse and Federico Macheda increase their options up front greatly. They are all different players, but all three have the pace and physicality that you need in the Premier League."
