Liverpool striker Suarez focused on Olympics

Wednesday 25 July 2012

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is not thinking about a potentially hostile reception at Old Trafford on Thursday, insisting he is focusing only on Uruguay’s preparation for the Olympic Games, according to the Daily Post.

Suarez, who has been named captain of the Uruguayan side, will appear at Manchester United’s ground for the first time since refusing to shake defender Patrice Evra’s hand in a bitter race row which led to a ban and fine for the Liverpool striker.

Uruguay play the U.A.E in the first of a double header and a good crowd is expected for the match, which has led some newspapers suggesting Suarez could face a difficult time.

The 25-year-old said of a potentially tricky encounter with the home fans: “I am representing Uruguay and that’s all that matters to me, I said before that the English press is what matters least. I am proud to represent my country; I don’t really know Old Trafford that well. I have played one match there.

Much favoured amongst journalists, Uruguay will face Team GB on August 1 in Cardiff as both sides look to qualify from the group. See what the expert tipsters are tipping on OLBG
