Gunners had Hazard bid rejected

By Peter McVitie

Wednesday 12 October 2011

Eden Hazard’s agent has revealed that Arsenal tried to sign the young Belgian during the summer and if they wish to sign him in the January transfer window, they will face competition from Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past couple of years as Arsene Wenger has admitted to being a big fan of Hazard.

The Belgian international is contracted to the club until 2015 and his agent, John Bico, claims that after the sale of Gervinho to Arsenal, Lille refused another offer from the Gunners for Hazard.

Bico told The Sun: “Arsene Wenger wanted Hazard, but Lille said no to the sale last summer. Real Madrid have been watching too.”
