Fulham vs Bolton - Match preview and prediction

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 17 December 2011

Fulham will be looking to cure their Europa League headache with a win over lacklustre Bolton at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers were dumped out of the Europa League by a late, late Odense goal on Thursday night. Fulham were inconsistent in that game and have been all season, following their 1-0 win over Liverpool two weeks ago with a poor show against Swansea last weekend. Bobby Zamora faces a late fitness test on his knee, but Simon Davies and Steve Sidwell are both ruled out with back and hernia problems respectively. Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has been ruled out for six weeks with a spinal injury, so Fulham have recalled David Stockdale from his loan spell with Ipswich. Martin Jol's side will be hopeful they can win against one of the out-of-form sides in the league.

Bolton are rock-bottom of the Premier League and have already lost seven at home this season. Wanderers boss Owen Coyle is in danger of losing his job at the Reebok Stadium and their defeat against Aston Villa last weekend saw boos ring around the ground. Bolton have been poor and have four games where they have the opportunity to pick up points to save Coyle's job. Ivan Klasnic returns for Wanderers after recovering from a knee injury and could be joined by midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker after a hamstring injury has ruled him out. David Wheater is still suspended following his red card against Everton.

Owen Coyle's men travel to West London low on confidence and low on belief. Martin Jol will be looking to get his side back to victory after their torrid time against Swansea and should comfortably win. Bolton need to change things quickly and maybe defeat against Fulham could cost Coyle his job.
