West Brom vs Norwich - Match prediction and preview

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 14 January 2012

West Brom welcome improving Norwich to the Hawthorns desperate to improve their horrendous home form which has seen them just win two games at home all season.

Roy Hodgson’s side have also failed to score in their last three Premier League games and were dreadful against Tottenham last time out. The Baggies are slipping back into the relegation zone and will need a victory against the Canaries at the Hawthorns this weekend, if they want to allay fan fears. Hodgson has to check on the fitness of six first team players before making a decision over his squad. Gareth McAuley, Jonas Olsson, Jerome Thomas, Paul Scharner, Youssouf Mulumbu and Shane Long have all got minor injuries and will have to be assessed before the game. New West Brom signing Scott Allan is expected to be in the squad following his move from SPL side Dundee United.

Norwich are unbeaten in their last three and have only lost one of their last six games, but are yet to keep a clean sheet this season on the road. Paul Lambert’s side have scored in 12 of their last 13 games and could fancy themselves scoring against West Brom. The Canaries were involved in a controversial game where Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson was involved in an incident that got QPR captain Joey Barton sent off. Norwich came out on top and see the return of Marc Tierney from a groin problem, but still have Ritchie de Laet out with a back injury. Goalkeeper John Ruddy missed the FA Cup tie with Burnley at the weekend for the birth of his daughter, but is back in contention for a start against West Brom.

The game could be a draw with West Brom’s lack of wins at home and Norwich’s lack of clean sheets at home. The Canaries can move further out of the worry of relegation with a win, but West Brom are desperate for a victory with their chances of relegation becoming more and more evident.
