Bolton admit interest in Dos Santos

By Bryan Waters

Tuesday 17 January 2012

Tottenham forward Giovani Dos Santos has emerged as a £4m target for struggling Bolton Wanderers, The Daily Star reports.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has money to spend after Gary Cahill completed his £7m move to Chelsea yesterday. Wanderers are struggling in the relegation zone and are desperate for some quality to help their bid to survive. Coyle is expected to bring in New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream to replace Cahill, but is interested in other areas to secure his side. Dos Santos has been earmarked as a player who Bolton could sign and the Mexican would be happy to move away from White Hart Lane.

The 22 year old is out of favour at Spurs and Coyle is hopeful he can sign Dos Santos on the cheap. Dos Santos moved to North London from Barcelona with a huge reputation in 2008, but has failed to make his mark on the first team. The Mexican international has had spells on loan at Ipswich Town, Racing Santander and Galatasaray during his time at Spurs and is now keen on a move away.

Coyle has remained quiet over any move for the 22 year old and has just stated his appreciation for Dos Santos’ ability. The Scotsman said: ‘He’s a talented player, but there are a lot of talented players at the elite clubs’.
