Chelsea firmly interested in signing Hazard

By Bryan Waters

Friday 03 February 2012

Chelsea scout Guy Hillion has revealed that he has been deployed to Lille to watch Eden Hazard on numerous occasions and the Blues are desperate to sign him, The Daily Star reports. Hazard has declared his interest to move to England and Chelsea are hopeful that the club he signs for will be them and not Manchester City.

City boss Roberto Mancini has declared his interest in the 21 year old Belgian, who has been electrifiying in the last two seasons for Lille. Hazard helped LOSC to win the French title last season and was touted for a summer move, which Lille stopped from happening. The forward now wants to move to England and Chelsea are keen on wrapping up the deal before other competitors can sneak in.

Hillion said: 'I must have watched Hazard more than 20 times for Chelsea. I've written a 100 per cent positive report every time. If Eden joins a big European club, he will get even stronger.'

Hazard is contracted to Lille until 2015 and is valued at £30m by the French champions, which is a price Chelsea will pay for such a talented player. The 21 year old has made over 100 appearances for Lille and said earlier this season that he fancied a new challenge, preferably in England.

'After thinking about my next move, I'm leaning towards England. It's a style of play that suits me and it's there that you can learn the most. I want to play for a big club, but also one where I will play every week', the Belgian said.
