Sagna hoping to help Arsenal upon return

By Bryan Waters

Friday 03 February 2012

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes he will become a much better player this season for the Gunners having spent four months watching from the sidelines, arsenal.com reports. The Frenchman has been ruled out since his broken leg sustained in a North London derby at White Hart Lane in October.

The right back made his return against Aston Villa in the FA Cup last weekend before completing 90 minutes unscathed against Bolton in midweek. Sagna has been missed in the Arsenal defence struck down with injuries and the Frenchman's problem left Wenger without a recognised senior right back. The 28 year old admits that there were difficult moments during his rehabilitation, but he is back and ready to help Arsenal into the top four.

Sagna said: 'I’ve watched many games, Arsenal and others, and when you’re standing with the crowd it’s totally different. I always look at other right backs, what they do well and what they don’t, so hopefully I’ve picked up some new things for my game too.'

The Frenchman was delighted with the reception he received against Villa and admits that he was at every home game cheering on as a fan during the injury. Sagna's return will help the Gunners as they look to get into the top four of the Premier League and challenge in the FA Cup, as well as the Champions League. Arsenal face a must-win fixture with Blackburn at the Emirates Stadium or could potentially find themselves eight points away from fourth placed Chelsea.
