Torres thanks Chelsea fans for their support

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 04 February 2012

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has thanked the club's fans for their support since his £50m move from Liverpool in January 2011, chelseafc.com. The Spaniard has only netted three league goals for the club since his move and will be looking for change against Manchester United on Sunday.

Torres should lead the line against United with Didier Drogba's absence at the African Cup of Nations and scored against United at Old Trafford earlier in the season. However, the Spaniard also missed an open goal that day and has seen his goalscoring form dip from when he was at Liverpool. Chelsea fans have kept confidence in the 27 year old and Torres is delighted that the Stamford Bridge faithful are still giving him a chance.

The Spanish international said: 'Since I joined Chelsea it has been amazing. I would like things to be much better but the support they give me every day is amazing, and for me it is a pleasure to be here. To hear the fans sing your name, it's the best feeling you can have. The relationship with the fans or what they think of me is really important, it makes me feel better or stronger, and from the first day I felt this support. Every time they sing my support it is amazing.'

Before the African Cup of Nations, Torres was kept on the bench by Drogba, but the Spaniard has been allowed the chance to shine at Chelsea. He has still yet to score, but would favour playing against Manchester United, a team he has scored four goals in his last seven Premier League games against.
