Nelsen delighted with move to Tottenham

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 04 February 2012

Ryan Nelsen has spoken of his happiness to join Tottenham and is looking forward to linking up with 'an amazing squad', tottenhamhotspur.com reports. The New Zealand international moved from Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday and joined fellow new signing Louis Saha for training.

Nelsen spent seven years at Ewood Park before leaving the club on a free transfer after his contract was terminated. The 34 year old has also played at the World Cup with New Zealand and brings more experience into the Spurs squad desperate to get into the Champions League. Nelsen links up with defenders Younes Kaboul, Ledley King, Michael Dawson and William Gallas at White Hart Lane and is delighted with the prospect.

The defender said: 'They are all world-class players. I know my role and why Harry's brought me in so if I can help out and contribute in any way, that will be fantastic. All I know is that I'm delighted to be here and I will work my socks off. I'll give everything for this club.'

Nelsen added: 'Looking from afar, it's such an exciting place to be at the moment. When I was at Blackburn and looking at the squads, I always thought Tottenham had an amazing squad. It's a bit weird, considering I've been trying to kick them for the last eight seasons, but it will be great to play alongside them!'
