Toure singles out Balotelli for praise

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has given team mate Mario Balotelli a glowing recommendation, claiming that if he could pick one player to join him in the Ivory Coast team, it would be the controversial Italian. Toure is currently away at the African Cup of Nations and has been since the start of January.
Toure told goal.com that what you hear about Balotelli is probably false and insists that he is just misunderstood: “If I could choose one City player to play for the Ivory Coast it would be Mario. Whatever you hear about him is just newspaper stuff and I wish I had been as committed as him when I was his age.”
The former Barcelona enforcer went onto to maintain that despite any off the field controversies, it’s his ability on the pitch that counts: “You cannot take away his quality on the field and in the end that is what really matters.”
