Cech disappointed with Chelsea draw

By Bryan Waters

Tuesday 07 February 2012

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has rued his team's inability to hold onto their lead in the 3-3 draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Sky Sports reports. The 29 year old saw his side throw away a 3-0 lead and was hapless as Wayne Rooney scored two penalties and Javier Hernandez was given a free header for the equaliser.

Andre Villas-Boas' side looked in pole position for the three points, which would have closed the gap on league leaders Manchester City, but their second half performance was not good enough. Cech was frustrated with what happened on Sunday, but insisted that football does that to teams sometimes and the Blues have to carry on regardless.

The Czech Republic international said: 'I felt sorry we didn't get the job done. If you are 3-0 up you should be able to win. But it was showed once again that you can't take anything for granted in football. Everything can change within a short spell of time.'

Cech also refused to criticise referee Howard Webb, who was at the heart of a contentious decision to award United a second penalty when Danny Welbeck and Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic collided. The goalkeeper said: 'I won't comment on it. We are not allowed to make comments on referees, so whether the penalty should or, should not have been given, is on others' opinion. I have my view but don't want to judge the referee.'
