Redknapp says Tottenham cannot lose another Premier League game

Wednesday 21 March 2012

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has warned that his side cannot lose any of their remaining 10 Premier League games if they are to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the Daily Mail has reported.

Spurs are currently in third place in the table, the final position from which entry to the competition’s lucrative group stages can be assured. Arsenal are a point behind in fourth, with the fourth-placed team facing an August play-off to reach the group stages.

Speaking on the eve of Tottenham’s match against Stoke City, Redknapp is quoted by the Mail as saying: “It’s a massive game for us. We can’t afford to lose any games; we’ve got to be ready to play.” Redknapp added that his side’s recent form, which has seen them lose three consecutive league games for the first time under his leadership, has jeopardised his side’s Champions League chances.

Tottenham’s last three league results - a 5-2 defeat at Arsenal, a 3-1 defeat by Manchester United at White Hart Lane and a 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park - have seen the Gunners go from trailing their North London rivals by seven points to the current deficit of a single point.
