Dalglish puts FA Cup out of mind ahead of Newcastle fixture
Kenny Dalglish is not thinking about Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final match with Everton, insisting he is fully focused on the upcoming Premier League fixture with Newcastle United, the Daily Mail has reported.
Dalglish takes his side to the Sports Direct Arena - formerly St James’ Park - on Sunday with Liverpool eight points adrift of their hosts. The Scot said: “The game is two weeks away so I am sure there will be a lot of conversations about Everton nearer the time. But for us the most important game right at this particular moment in time is Newcastle.”
Newcastle go into the contest a place above Liverpool in sixth, off the back of a 3-1 away victory over West Bromwich Albion. A Papiss Cisse double and a Hatem Ben Arfa strike gave the Magpies victory over the Baggies, with Cisse registering his fourth and fifth goals for Newcastle since arriving in the Premier League in January.
When Liverpool welcomed Newcastle to Anfield on December 30 the result was a 3-1 victory for the home side, two goals from ex-Newcastle forward Craig Bellamy and a Steven Gerrard effort ending 2011 in style.
