Defoe concentrated on strong Tottenham finish
Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has told his team-mates to forget the recent defeat against Norwich City and concentrate on finishing the season strongly, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs had occupied third place in the Premier League for much of the season and were even being tipped to challenge for the title at the beginning of 2012. However, Harry Redknapp’s side have collected just six points from their last eight games, a run which has allowed local rivals Arsenal to leapfrog them in the table.
The White Hart Lane outfit are now under pressure to remain in the top four, with both Newcastle United and Chelsea breathing down their necks. Defoe, who scored against Norwich, said: “I think it's important to regroup now and everyone has to stick together. We've had a fantastic season and we just need to think about how we've played before to win games. We've got to keep working hard, there are so many important games to play. We just need to try and get as many points as we can.”
Tottenham’s next game will be at Wembley on Sunday, where they will face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. Meanwhile, their next league clash will be against relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road a week on Saturday.
