Arsenal will be ready to battle Stoke, insists Jenkinson

Friday 27 April 2012

Arsenal are prepared to battle Stoke City when the sides meet in the Premier League this weekend, according to full-back Carl Jenkinson, as the Gunners fight to hold onto their top-four place in the table and reach next season’s Champions League, the London Evening Standard has reported.

Jenkinson said: “Stoke away is never an easy place to go and we have to be prepared for the sort of game we know they are going to throw at us, but we are looking forward to going up there and getting a win.

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League, three points ahead of Newcastle United and six in front of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. With Newcastle away to relegation strugglers Wigan Athletic and Spurs hosting another side threatened with the drop, Blackburn Rovers, this weekend could prove pivotal for all sides concerned. Champions League finalists Chelsea are also in the hunt for fourth place or better, with Roberto Di Matteo’s team facing Queens Park Rangers at Stamford Bridge.

It is however Arsenal who are in pole position for third place, but Arsene Wenger’s side have played a game more than the three teams below them, suggesting that the race to make the Champions League will go down to the wire.
