Torres predicts more Chelsea goals after QPR hat-trick

Monday 30 April 2012

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres hopes he can continue the goal scoring form that brought a hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, suggesting that the treble could be the first of many he claims for Roberto Di Matteo’s side, the Guardian has reported.

Torres struck twice in the first-half and once more just after the hour mark days after he sealed Chelsea’s progression to the Champions League final with a late goal against Barcelona in the Nou Camp. In those two games Torres has scored more goals under interim boss Di Matteo than he managed in more than half a season under former manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Spain international said: “It was an important result and I’m happy with the hat-trick. My last hat-trick was a long time ago but hopefully it will be the first of many. Things are getting better.

Torres last found the net three times in one match in September 2009, during Liverpool’s 6-1 demolition of Hull City. Then just as now Torres scored twice in the first-half and added the third after the break, while a late Ryan Babel brace and a Steven Gerrard goal cancelled out Geovanni’s effort for the Tigers.
