Bolton vs Tottenham - Match preview and prediction

Wednesday 02 May 2012

As Tottenham continue their quest for Champions League football, it is relegation strugglers Bolton who stand in the way of Spurs going one point behind rivals Arsenal, and keeping hold of fourth position in the Premier League.

Bolton go into the game on the back of three games unbeaten, which includes an away victory over Aston Villa, a run that leaves them in 18th position, level on points with QPR in 17th, with a game in hand. Owen Coyles side have picked up two wins in the last six home Premier League ties, including a 3-0 defeat to Fulham – their last match at the Reebok Stadium saw the Trotters draw 1-1 with Swansea.

Tottenham meanwhile ended a run of four games without a win last weekend, when they defeat Blackburn 2-0 at White Hart Lane. Their away form in the league however will not fill them with confidence ahead of tonight’s tie, having not recorded a victory in their last eight attempts.

For Bolton, Darren Pratley will be unavailable to Coyle with a virus, and defender Gretar Steinsson is also set to miss the match through illness. Kevin Davies is set to start up front, alongside David N’gog.

Tottenham may be without Aaron Lennon who limped off in Sunday’s win with an ankle injury, while Benoit Assou-Ekotto is still out with a shoulder injury.
