Chelsea defender Luiz wanted by Barcelona

Chelsea defender David Luiz is on the summer transfer wish list of Barcelona, the side the Blues defeated in the Champions League semi-finals, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Luiz missed both of the matches with the side coached by Pep Guardiola after picking up an injury in the FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham Hotspur but is expected to be fit for the European final, where Roberto Di Matteo will have to partner Luiz with Gary Cahill because of suspensions to his other senior centre-backs.

If Barcelona’s interest in the former Benfica defender is concrete and the move goes ahead, the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on May 19 would be Luiz’s last appearance for Chelsea. Tito Villanova will replace Guardiola for next season and the Mirror notes that the new boss is an admirer of Brazilian international Luiz. The newspaper adds that a fee of around £30m would be needed to take Luiz to the Nou Camp.
