Chelsea want Wigan forward Moses

Tuesday 19 June 2012

Chelsea are leading the chase to sign Wigan Athletic forward Victor Moses, according to the Daily Mail, but the Champions League winners face competition from a host of Premier League rivals.

The Mail names Liverpool, Arsenal, Queens Park Rangers and Newcastle United as among the suitors for the 21-year-old, who has a year remaining on his Wigan contract. Despite that, the newspaper puts the mooted price tag for Moses at £10m.

Moses is said to have caught the eye of Chelsea’s director of football Michael Emanalo, who believes the Nigerian would suit the attacking style of football the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich, is desirous of at Stamford Bridge. Abramovich’s Wigan counterpart, Dave Whelan, is believed to have admitted the Latics will have to sell Moses if a big offer comes in this summer.

Nigerian international Moses moved to the DW Stadium from Crystal Palace in 2010, and has gone on to score nine goals in 79 games for Roberto Martinez’s side.
