Arsenal boss Wenger impressed by Germany midfielder Reus

Monday 25 June 2012

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he has been impressed at Euro 2012 by Germany midfielder Marco Reus, the Daily Mail has reported.

Wenger was working for French television during Germany’s 4-2 Euro 2012 quarter-final victory over Greece in which Reus started and scored, and revealed during his analysis of the fixture that Reus is a player he has watched before.

However, the 23-year-old has already agreed a £17m move to Borussia Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach, due to be completed this summer, which would appear to rule out a switch to the Emirates Stadium in the near future. Reus will sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Reus’ international colleague Lukas Podolski is already confirmed as joining Arsenal this summer, linking up with a third member of Die Mannschaft, centre-back Per Mertesacker, while France striker Olivier Giroud is widely expected to complete his move to Arsenal from Montpellier soon.
