Wednesday 27 June 2012

Chelsea winger Florent Malouda is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with a number of teams, including at least one in Brazil, interested in signing the France international, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

The Telegraph notes that Malouda’s wife is Brazilian and Vasco de Gama hope that and the chance to play with former Lyon teammate Juninho Pernambucano, together with the upswing in financial power currently boosting the country thanks to the hosting of the 2014 World Cup, can tempt the 32-year-old to South America.

Malouda has a year remaining on his Chelsea contract and has been told he is free to find new employers. The left-sided midfielder moved to the Premier League in 2007 for a fee of £13m, and in his time in Chelsea colours won the Premier League title once in 2009-10, the FA Cup three times in 2009, 2010 and 2012, and the Champions League, also in 2012.
