Corluka leaves Tottenham

Thursday 28 June 2012

Croatia international Vedran Corluka has left Tottenham Hotspur for Lokomotiv Moscow, Yahoo Sports has reported, linking up with former Croatia Coach Slaven Bilic, who moved to Russia after Croatia were eliminated from Euro 2012.

Corluka spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen after losing his place in the Tottenham side to Kyle Walker, but the German club chose not to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent deal, freeing up Corluka to move to Russia under Bilic. Corluka follows compatriot Niko Kranjcar out the Spurs exit door while Yahoo notes the third of Tottenham’s Croatian trio, Luka Modric, could also be on the move.

Corluka was signed by Tottenham in 2008 from Manchester City, swapping the Etihad Stadium for White Hart Lane on the last day of the summer transfer window. Corluka played 110 games for Spurs, scoring once. The defender also has more than 50 international caps to his name.
