PSG plan move for Chelsea captain Terry

Monday 02 July 2012

Paris Saint-Germain could make a surprise offer for John Terry, the Chelsea captain, the Daily Mail has reported.

The French side are coached by Carlo Ancelotti, who managed Terry between 2009 and 2011 while at Stamford Bridge. The Mail puts the amount to be offered by PSG for Terry’s services at £8m, and believe PSG would be capable of matching Terry’s Chelsea wage of £160,000 a week.

PSG are bankrolled by Qatari oil money and have spent heavily in recent months, going back a year when they snatched Palermo midfielder Javier Pastore from under the noses of Chelsea. The club are also known to be in the market for a central defender this summer, having already come close to signing Milan’s Thiago Silva, only for the £45m move to break down.

Deep pockets could not however bring the Ligue 1 title to PSG last season as the capital club were beaten to the prize by Montpellier, who saw off not only PSG’s challenge but that of title holders Lille to claim the trophy.
