Tottenham agree Adebayor deal
New Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has agreed a deal to sign striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis, according to BBC Sport.
The 28-year-old impressed in a loan spell with the North London club last season, scoring 18 goals in 37 appearances. He quickly became a fans favourite despite appearing for Arsenal 105 times, before making a big money move to Manchester City where he failed to hold down a regular starting position.
Earlier in the week Villas-Boas confirmed the clubs' interest in signing the player on a permanent deal, telling journalists: "We are extremely willing to have Adebayor on board with us."
It was thought that Tottenham would be priced out of a deal for the player given his high wage demands, which his parent club Manchester City financed a high percentage of in order for the player to go out on loan.
The Togolese striker spent a year on loan at Real Madrid, however they chose not to make the deal permanent and plentiful striking resources at City made a future there unlikely.
Adebayor will become AVB’s third signing of the summer after completing the captures of Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
