Man City to make van Persie approach once Tevez seals exit

Sunday 15 July 2012

Manchester City are lining up a £30m bid for Arsenal’s want-away striker Robin van Persie, report the Daily Mail.

City are looking to free up more of their salary bill before bringing in another high earner to the Etihad Stadium, and want to follow up their sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Spurs this week with the exit of Carlos Tevez to Milan.

Milan have been linked with both Tevez and strike partner Edin Dzeko this week as replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is strongly reported as ready to follow Thiago Silva from Milan to PSG. But Tevez is felt to be first choice, and if this deal goes ahead, Man City boss Roberto Mancini will be given the go-ahead to start negotiations with Arsenal for van Persie.

It is reported that a fee of £30m will be necessary to see the Gunners part with their Dutch forward, however the possibility will hinge on whether an agreement can still be found between player and club in a last set of talks organised between the two parties this week.
