Chelsea to sign Hazard brother

Bookmark and Share

By Andrew Tuft

Friday 20 July 2012

Having already completed the signing of Eden Hazard this summer Chelsea are set to add the playmaker’s younger brother Thorgan Hazard to their ranks too, Yahoo Sports has reported.

Lens sporting director Antoine Sibierski - formerly of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic - told his club’s website that he expected the deal taking Thorgan to Stamford Bridge to be wrapped up on Friday. Sibierski added that he had hoped to sign Thorgan to a new contract but when the junior Hazard expressed an interest in leaving it soon become clear he was destined for Chelsea.

The 19-year-old Hazard is two years younger than Eden, but like his big brother is an attack-minded midfielder. Thorgan has spent his entire career at Lens - rivals of Eden’s former side Lille - and has featured regularly for the Belgium national team’s youth sides, but is yet to make his senior bow.
