Oscar edges closer to dream Chelsea move

Tuesday 24 July 2012

Chelsea’s move for Brazil midfielder Oscar is moving closer with the deal possibly completed as early as Friday, the Daily Mail has reported, as the Internacional player describes the prospect of playing for the Premier League side as “a dream”.

Oscar is said to have undergone a medical for the move before Brazil’s 2-0 win over Team GB in a London Olympics warm-up last week. That is despite originally insisting he would not allow his proposed move to Stamford Bridge interfere with his pursuit of a gold medal for Brazil.

If I go to Chelsea, it will be a dream - a big club in Europe,” Oscar said, adding: “I’m sure I’ll have a great Olympics, and if it is to be Chelsea, I’ll do a great job there.

The 20-year-old played 68 minutes at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium before being replaced by Lucas Moura. Brazil won the match 2-0 with goals from Neymar, a penalty, and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro.

Oscar has played for Internacional since 2009, moving to Porto Alegre from Sao Paulo. The reported fee for his move to Champions League winners Chelsea is in the region of £25m.
