Lampard eager to discuss new Chelsea contract

Thursday 26 July 2012

Frank Lampard is keen to extend his 11-year stay at Chelsea by signing a new contract that would see him end his career with the Champions League winners, the Daily Mail has reported.

Lampard has a year remaining on his current contract and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge when his contract expires, but the England midfielder has spoken of his desire to reach a new agreement and stay with Chelsea until he retires.

I’m ready to sit down and talk to Chelsea whenever they want to. I’ve had a great time playing for Chelsea and I hope I can prolong it,” Lampard said, adding: “In an ideal world I’d finish here and keep giving what I have given over the past ten years.” Lampard added that he did not want to stay at Chelsea so long that he could no longer live up to his own high standards, however.

Lampard joined Chelsea in 2001, signing from West Ham United. The 34-year-old made nearly 200 appearances for the Hammers and has gone on to play more than 550 games for Chelsea, winning the Premier League three times, the FA Cup four times and the Champions League once, as well as almost 100 caps for England.
