Huddlestone puts injury behind him to resume Tottenham career

Thursday 26 July 2012

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone has spoken of the frustration he felt last season as injury ruled him out of most of the Premier League campaign after continuing his return to action in Spurs’ friendly with LA Galaxy earlier this week, the Guardian has reported.

Huddlestone started last season without a problem but quickly picked up an ankle injury that eventually ruled him out for the entire year. “Last season was so frustrating. I made four appearances at the start but then I picked up the ankle problem which persisted for months,” Huddlestone said, adding: “It was particularly hard when I was two weeks away then I discovered I needed another operation.” It was that final operation that ensured Huddlestone would not play again until this summer.

The former Derby County player added that once he understood he had no chance of featuring again last season he focused solely on preparing for pre-season. He added that his ankle problem will always linger but he feels he will learn to cope. Huddlestone also denied that it will force him to miss matches, as the fixtures should be far enough apart to allow for recovery.
