Van Persie would make Man City stronger, says Kompany

Tuesday 31 July 2012

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes Manchester City will get stronger next season, and admitted the signing of Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie would improve the club’s fire power, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Van Persie has been heavily linked with a departure from Arsenal this summer after announcing he did not intend to renew his contract with the club. City are one of three main suitors for the Netherlands international, with the Premier League winners facing competition from their Serie A counterparts Juventus and near neighbours Manchester United. All three are said to have had bids rejected for the 28-year-old, whose contract expires next summer.

Kompany revealed that he believes van Persie has improved a great deal since their paths first crossed five or six years ago, and added that whichever team wins the race for the striker’s signature will be improved by having him in their starting line-up.
