Man Utd and Arsenal to watch Celtic midfielder Wanyama

Wednesday 01 August 2012

Scouts from Manchester United and Arsenal will be among the spectators on Wednesday as Celtic take on Helsinki in their Champions League qualifier, according to the Daily Mail. Midfielder Victor Wanyama is thought to be the attraction for the Premier League pair, who are among the sides linked with a £7m move for the 21-year-old.

Queens Park Rangers, who have already signed seven players this summer, have also been mentioned in connection with the Kenyan, who moved to the Scottish Premier League a year ago after spending time in Sweden with Helsingborg and Belgium outfit Beerschot AC.

Last season Wanyama made 41 appearances for Celtic, helping Neil Lennon’s side to the SPL title. Primarily a midfielder but also capable of playing in the centre of defence, Wanyama is a Kenya international and is related to former Inter midfielder McDonald Mariga, who came close to joining Manchester City in 2010, only for the move to collapse over a work permit issue.
