Agent claims Juventus have signed Arsenal captain van Persie

Thursday 02 August 2012

An Italy-based agent has claimed the champions of Serie A, Juventus, have completed the signing of Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, ESPN has reported.

Fabio Parisi - who is not involved in the transfer - believes Juventus have already reached an agreement with van Persie and are simply waiting for the right moment to announce the deal. Juve are one of three clubs chasing the 28-year-old, along with Premier League pair Manchester City and Manchester United.

The three have each had an offer for van Persie rejected by the Gunners but Parisi feels it is only a matter of time before the Dutchman wears the famous black and white stripes. He said: “I think Juventus have had a signed contract with Van Persie for some time locked away in a notary's desk. It is just my opinion but I think there is an eight out of ten chance the Dutchman will join the Bianconeri.

ESPN note that if Arsenal are forced to sell van Persie - who rejected a new contract with the club this summer, with his current contract expiring next year - then their preference would be to see the player move abroad.
