Pienaar hopes for trophy success with Everton

Thursday 02 August 2012

Steven Pienaar is desperate to make his permanent return to Everton a successful one by winning a trophy under David Moyes, the Liverpool Daily Post has reported.

Pienaar completed his full-time switch back to Everton earlier this week, having ended the season on loan at the club from Tottenham Hotspur. It took a fee of £4.5m to bring the South Africa midfielder back to Goodison Park, 18 months after he left for White Hart Lane in a £3m deal.

The 30-year-old - who remarked that it is actually the fourth time he has signed for Everton, following his initial loan spell in 2007 that was made permanent a year later - added that he wants to help the club to its first trophy since 1995.

Pienaar was part of the side that reached the FA Cup final in 2009 only to lose to Chelsea despite opening the scoring after a matter of seconds through Louis Saha.

Last season Everton reached the semi-finals of the same competition but Pienaar was forced to sit out the cup run, having played for Tottenham earlier in the tournament. Everton were defeated by Liverpool, who went on to lose to Chelsea in the final.
