Demba Ba is staying at Newcastle and admits he loves life on Tyneside. Reported in the Daily Telegraph, the 27-year-old has spoken highly of the team he signed for last summer and is keen to continue the fine form that propelled the Magpies into fifth place, above Champions League winners Chelsea, last time out.

He said: “I don’t care what is being said. I think its part of the game. I have never said anything other that I love being at Newcastle. If they hear something from me about my future, that is the truth.

Otherwise, everything that is said is not true…Of course I am looking forward to next season with Newcastle. We just have to build on the progress we made last season. For me, I just wait to start the first game.

Ba kicked off his first season at the Sports Direct Arena with an impressive 15 goals before January when he left for the Africa Cup of Nations. However, upon returning he was overshadowed by countryman Papiss Cisse, who signed in January and nabbed 13 goals. Ba only managed one for the rest of the season.

Despite this, the two Senegalese strikers formed a strong partnership, one that has managed to stay together over the summer despite a great deal of speculation. Ba did have a release clause in his contract of £7.5m but it was not activated before the July 31 expiration date.
