Arsenal to complete Cazorla transfer

Friday 03 August 2012

Arsenal are on the verge of signing Santi Cazorla from Malaga on a deal worth £16m. According to the Guardian the Spanish midfielder completed his medical in North London this week and the Premier League side are set to announce the signing of the 27-year-old in the next few days, making him Arsene Wenger’s third big money deal this summer.

Cazorla has had an interesting couple of years after being sold to Malaga by Villarreal last season for £15m. But with Malaga incurring high debts and with the sale of the club on the horizon the Spaniard is set to jump a sinking ship and arrive at Arsenal.

In his single season with Malaga the attacking midfielder netted 9 times in 38 La Liga, games helping the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time. Previous to that he has scored 23 goals in 127 La Liga fixtures for Villarreal over four years - earning him a debut in the Spain national side in 2008, where he has gone to play 45 times and scored 6.

Cazorla could be the first of two signings from Spain this week with Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin expected to arrive on loan from Real Madrid in the next few days as well.
