Villas-Boas insists Tottenham will get full value for Modric

Monday 06 August 2012

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas has warned any suitors of Luka Modric - including La Liga champions Real Madrid - that they should not expect to sign the midfielder on the cheap, according to the Daily Mail.

Villas-Boas also admitted that he was preparing for the new season without Modric, with the Croatia international still training separate from the rest of the squad, but added that he will return to his teammates when the time is right.

Modric has been clear in his wish to leave White Hart Lane this summer and Madrid have had a series of offers rejected as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy holds out for what he feels is the player’s full worth. Levy is thought to want no less than £40m for the 26-year-old while Madrid made an opening offer of below £30m.

It had been suggested that Madrid could offer what would effectively be a part-exchange deal for Modric, sending a player plus cash Tottenham’s way in return for Modric, but Villas-Boas denied he was ever keen on such a deal. Midfielder Nuri Sahin was the likely player included in the offer, but Villas-Boas maintained he had no interest in the Turkey international.
