Chelsea keen for more transfers before Premier League gets underway

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen to further add to his squad before the start of the new Premier League season, the Guardian has reported. The FA Cup winners may even push for signings before then, with the Community Shield against Manchester City now less than a week away.

Di Matteo is said to be eager to draft in re-enforcements for both his defence and his attack, particularly after Chelsea were unceremoniously defeated by Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. Di Matteo has targeted a right-back, a winger and a striker as necessities.

Brazil and Porto forward Hulk remains on the manager’s wish list but a move for Wigan Athletic’s Nigeria international Victor Moses is considered more likely. Hulk’s situation is complicated by a third-party ownership stipulation, while Chelsea have made a series of offers for Moses without agreeing a fee. The Latics had been holding out for £10m but all parties would accept something closer to £8m, the Guardian adds.
