Man Utd move for Moura collapses over extra fees

Tuesday 07 August 2012

Manchester United have pulled out of the transfer bringing Lucas Moura to the Premier League after the player’s representatives asked for a further £6m in additional fees as part of the deal, the Daily Mirror has reported.

United were willing to pay the £25m asking price set by Sao Paulo, Moura’s current club, but baulked at the extra money, which would have gone to Moura’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, and the player’s family.

Sir Alex Ferguson had hoped to clinch the deal for Moura soon but with the player’s camp resistant to any attempt to lower their financial demands, United are now expected to move on to other targets. It had been reported that Moura had shied away from the move because he did not want to live in Manchester, but the club rejected that suggestion out of hand.

Moura is now expected to head to France, with the petrodollars of Paris Saint-Germain paying the requested sum, according to the president of Italian side Inter, who had also been pursuing the 19-year-old.
