Liverpool want Man City winger Johnson as part of Agger transfer

Liverpool will require £23m and a player - winger Adam Johnson - as part of any transfer that takes Daniel Agger away from Anfield and to Premier League champions Manchester City, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Man City’s initial offer for the centre-back was substantially less than the fee Liverpool are said to be holding out for, with the Mirror claiming Roberto Mancini first sanctioned a £13m bid for the Denmark international. Liverpool want at least £10m more than that - and the loan of England international Johnson for a year.

A second offer from City - in the region of £20m - has also been turned down by Liverpool. Agger is interested in moving to the Etihad Stadium, the newspaper adds, and has only two years remaining on his current contract with the Reds.

Liverpool are valuing Johnson at between £3m and £4m, taking the total package it would take to send Agger to City to around £27m.
