Modric training alone as he waits for Tottenham exit

Friday 10 August 2012

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric has been made to train on his own by the club as he waits for Real Madrid to make an acceptable offer for his services, the Daily Mail has reported.

Modric is not thought to be any closer to an exit but has not yet been welcomed back amongst his teammates. Instead the Croatia international is training separately at the Spurs Lodge, with Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas preparing for life without the 26-year-old.

The Mail suggests that Modric’s lone training regime is evidence Villas-Boas expects the player to be elsewhere by the close of the transfer window. The newspaper also points to the experience of centre-back Alex and striker Nicolas Anelka at Chelsea during Villas-Boas’ short tenure. The pair submitted transfer requests ahead of the January transfer window and were duly sent to train apart from the rest of the squad before their departure to Paris Saint-Germain and Shanghai Shenhua respectively.
