Allen not fazed by Liverpool move
Joe Allen has not been flustered by his big money move to Liverpool and is looking forward to competing for his place amongst some of the leagues biggest stars. Reported by the Daily Mail, Allen has been speaking about the last couple of years in which he has been promoted with Swansea, played one season in the Premier League before this summer making a £15m switch to Anfield.
He said: “The last couple of seasons have definitely been a whirlwind. First and foremost, we got promotion to the Premier League which was something I hadn’t imagined so quickly and then off the back last season to find myself where I am today has been an incredible journey.”
The Welshman effectively grew up within the Swansea ranks after singing for the club at the age of 9. He debuted when he was 17 and went on to play 147 games for the club, including 36 Premier League appearances last season, contributing 4 goals in the top flight.
His move to Liverpool comes after two seasons playing under new Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers. In the last campaign the 22-year-old completed 91% of his 2,177 passes, making him one of the league’s top playmakers. But he is keeping his feet well and truly on the ground, admitting first team opportunities may not come easy.
Allen added: “There is competition for every single place in the team, it’s full of world-class quality. I’m really excited to be playing with the likes of the players who are at this football club and hopefully I can gel straight with them.
