Everton linked to move for Liverpool midfielder Adam

Charlie Adam could be set to travel the short distance between Anfield and Goodison Park, as the Daily Mirror reports Everton are interested in signing the Liverpool midfielder.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is said to be willing to sell the Scotland international for as little as £5m only a year after his predecessor Kenny Dalglish paid £9m to Blackpool for Adam’s services. Moyes was understood to be interested in Adam while he was at Blackpool and after selling Jack Rodwell to Manchester City has both money to spend and a possible vacancy in midfield.

There has not been a Liverpool player sold directly to Everton since the late Gary Ablett, 20 years ago. In that time Nick Barmby and Abel Xavier have gone from Everton to Liverpool, while former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchinson captained Everton in the late 1990s but had a spell at Sheffield United between stints on Merseyside.

Adam is thought to be interested in the move regardless of public reaction but Moyes is treading carefully. However, the Everton manager could have an inside line on the deal, the Mirror suggests, as his brother Kenny is Adam’s agent.
