Arsenal midfielder Wilshere to be back before Christmas

Tuesday 21 August 2012

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to be ready to return to action by October, after Arsene Wenger had previously claimed he was only hoping to see Wilshere return by Christmas. The Daily Mirror claims the manager was attempting to ease the pressure on Wilshere to regain fitness by extending the deadline.

Wenger is however said to be confident that Wilshere is finally free of the injuries that decimated last season, ruling the England international out of the entire campaign and delaying his involvement in this one. The Mirror adds that Wenger is so sure Wilshere will be ready, that he will not sign a like-for-like replacement for Alex Song, who has joined Barcelona.

Wilshere is expected to be in full training within four weeks, having undergone an extensive programme of fitness work over the last week. Wenger is reluctant to put too much pressure on Wilshere, however, having been forced to do without the player last season after a series of setbacks and niggles left Wilshere unavailable for a whole year.
