Wenger looking to injured players to strengthen Arsenal squad
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not expecting a busy transfer deadline day, insisting that while the club has the money to make further signings they are unlikely to do so, with instead the upcoming return to fitness of Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna how the Gunners intend to strengthen, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
Wenger has already added Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla to his roster this summer, while seeing Robin van Persie and Alex Song depart. Wenger admitted that he is always looking to improve the options available in his squad and added that even after signing three players, there was going to be a clamour for more.
However, while claiming that if Arsenal do not make more signings on Friday they could still enter the transfer market in the winter transfer window, Wenger insisted that seeing his three long-term injured players return would be an equally-important step. He said: “Getting our injured players back is the best way for us to strengthen the squad. We do not just want to bring average players in. Spending in itself is not a quality. Buying good players is a quality, better players than you have is a quality.”
