Fulham accept Aston Villa Dempsey bid

Bookmark and Share

By Adam Mazrani

Friday 31 August 2012

Aston Villa have had a bid of around £7million accepted according to Sky Sports.

29 year old Dempsey, who top scored for Fulham with 23 goals last season, has been the subject of a summer long transfer saga between the Cottagers and Liverpool, where his signing was announced on the Reds’ owners’ website despite Fulham manager Martin Jol insisting a bid had never been made for the forward.

The Texan has been left out of Fulham’s opening three games this season after he informed Jol of his desire to leave Craven Cottage. With Liverpool yet to make a bid for a player, Sunderland appeared to be leading the race last night before the news broke this morning of Aston Villa’s accepted bid.

It remains to be seen whether these latest developments will encourage Liverpool to ramp up their interest in Dempsey before the transfer window closes on Friday night.
