Arsenal midfielder Wilshere close to comeback
Jack Wilshere is expected to return to the Arsenal fold within a matter of weeks, Arsene Wenger has confirmed, as the England international’s injury nightmare comes to an end, according to the Daily Mail.
Wilshere missed the whole of last season with an ankle injury and further problems have delayed his involvement at the start of the new campaign, but Wenger revealed that Wilshere has looked good on the training pitch and could be pushing for a place in the side within a month.
Wenger added however that he felt the Arsenal midfield possessed so much quality and depth at this moment in time that Wilshere was not guaranteed to feature. He said: “I would say in a month [Wilshere] should be starting to play again. Look at our midfield…that is quality and there is a fight for the places.”
Wilshere, 20, made his Gunners debut in 2008 aged only 16, becoming the club’s youngest ever league player in the process. Wilshere broke the record established by Cesc Fabregas and scored his first Arsenal goal soon after, netting in the League Cup in a 6-0 win over Sheffield United.
