Lloris unhappy with Villas-Boas days after signing for Tottenham

Wednesday 05 September 2012

Tottenham Hotspur’s £12m deadline day purchase Hugo Lloris is said to already be unhappy with his manager Andre Villas-Boas despite barely spending any time with him since the deal was completed due to the international break.

Lloris, who is France’s No 1 goalkeeper and captain, is said by the Daily Mail to have been upset by his manager’s comments after Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Norwich at the weekend, where Villas-Boas stated that Lloris would have to be second choice to veteran American Brad Friedel. It appears that Lloris has aired his grievances to his national manager Didier Deschamps, who offered his view of Villas-Boas’ words. “I saw what Villas-Boas said and these statements surprised me,” Deschamps said. “If it happens, it deserves consideration. I do not want Hugo put in this situation. He did not appreciate the statements. You all know the value of Hugo. He is focused on these two games [for France] and I hope that after it will go well for him.

Lloris, who has 38 caps for France and was the established first-choice at previous club Lyon, could be in line to make his Tottenham debut in the club’s next match when they travel to Reading after the international break.
