Manchester United will have to meet the £47m buy-out clause if they are to sign Leandro Damiao in January, reports Sky Sports.

The Brazilian's club, Internacional, recently sold attacking midfielder Oscar to fellow Premier League club Chelsea, but despite widespread reports of Tottenham's interest in Damiao, the player remained.

Yet amid fresh reports linking the player to Old Trafford, the players' agent, Giovanni Luigi, has revealed that the 60m Euro buy-out fee would be the only way to bring the striker to the Premier League.

"If Manchester United came here today, I would ask them to pay his buyout fee. They have to know that Internacional are a big club. Now, Leandro Damiao only leaves if the buyout fee is paid," his agent said.

The 23-year-old forward has netted 11 goals in 14 starts this season in Gaucho 1, and has also scored an impressive six goals in five starts in Brazils recent Olympic football campaign.

Manchester United reportedly made a summer bid for fellow Selecao attacker Neymar, only to see it rejected - the player has also made it clear he is not interested in a move until after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
