Chelsea winger Malouda to train with youth team

Thursday 06 September 2012

Florent Malouda has revealed he is to train with the Chelsea youth team after falling out of favour with manager Roberto Di Matteo, the BBC has reported.

Malouda has a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge but has not been including in the club’s squad to participate in the Champions League, and nor has he featured at all for the Blues in a match day squad this season.

The BBC adds that Malouda, 32, was linked with a move away from the Champions League winners over the summer but the transfer window closed without that happening. Malouda joined Chelsea for a fee of more than £13m in 2007, having previously played for Lyon.

Malouda revealed however on Twitter that he would be training with the club’s youth and reserve team players this season - which he referred to as his last with the club - by posting a picture of the under-21 players’ entrance on the social network site.
